Photo-realistic Many games use a photo realistic look in order to get better graphics into the game so that it looks like a realistic image. A lot of games do this as more and more people use graphics to judge a game. For instance, Metal Gear Solid V uses a photorealistic art style in order to emphasize its cinematic feeling. Metal Gear Solid V also does a lot with lighting in that due to this being a stealth/action hybrid game, it means that lighting is key in presenting a highly detailed world. GTA V uses its photo-realistic art style in order to parody real life and create a world that is so realistic that it took many years of development time just to build the richly detailed map. Cel-shaded Borderlands uses a cell shaded art style in order to get across a silly and over the top tone that’s meant to be light hearted and comedic. However not many people like the cell shaded art style and feel Borderlands would be better as a comic book/photorealistic hybrid similar to the Tell-Tale action/adventure games which have pseudo-realistic textures but many characters are overly shaded or scaled in order to give the idea that some chatacters are stronger than they appear to be. Anime Anime is a very abstract kind of art style, exaggerating facial features, usually eyes, for an artistic effect. There have been many anime features which have used the art style effectively to create fight scenes, such as the Yu-Gi-Oh and Naruto series.
