Power Point Presentation
For this we had to do a group exercise in which we came up with ideas for a mobile game and then do research of games already on the market and then come up with a name, menus and character art for your game.
It was my job to research the market to find out which types of games are popular and to see if any are too similar to our ideas.
As a group we discussed the possibilities of multi-player and how to balance that out. We decided on a level-based system which means you get paired with people on a similar level to you.
Another task we had was to create characters with specific abilities to make the game more interesting.
Then we got into talking about how we're going to actually make the game flow in terms of combat, we decided to go for a 2D tower defence game but have economic parts to it such as the mines.
Pretty far in our pre-production we discussed the possibility of micro-transactions through the store as well as balencing out the different classes of our characters. We decided to have an in-game shop that allows you to upgrade your characters, instantly train them and buy new troops with either money from the mines or money that you can purchase in-app.
Our artist began making some concept art for us to go on so we had a decent idea of what kind of game we were making and what characters would be available.
Depending on how big of a game you are creating the game development cycle can be much longer, for console games it can take up to and even beyond 5 years. however for mobile games it's much shorter due to simplicity and can be done in just a matter of months.
