Making pixel art in UE4 and Photoshop
Today we made pixel art of some grass and dirt using photoshop, then importing it into UE4. We did this by making a 512/512 sheet and then a 32x32 image of grass and dirt. We then imported into Unreal and used it to create a 2D side scrolling game.

This is one of the water sprites I intended to make for my main sprite sheet.
Evaluation
I have learned about how to create 2D levels effectively. I have used Unreal Engine 4 and photoshop to achieve this task. We had to create a level using 2D images and then create a sprite sheet which we then turned into our level. We also had to create a platform which goes up and down for our scene, this was using the exact same way of making an object go up and down in 3D games.
I feel that this unit has helped with my photoshop and image editing skills and look forward to using those skills in the near future.
If I were to do this again I would try to add in my own character, as well as make more detailed textures for use in unreal engine 4. I would have also tried to add in enemies as well as some weapons or possibly pickups, a life system, a decent user interface with many options and also a goal to the level, instead of it just being blank as well as look into background animations and more complex level design.
Even though I struggle a lot with creating 2D images I think that I managed quite well to do the tasks necessary, and hope that I find techniques that could be easier and help me manage more with it in the future.
Overall I think this unit has helped me with my texturing in general and has given me more knowledge on how 2D games are made and look forward to using new methods and technology to create abstract images.
