When I first went into this project I had some doubts due to my inability to use a pen to draw because of my muscular problems. I have found a way around this by tracing over images using shift and left click in photoshop, which can be used to create straight lines, bridge gaps and make angles if you use shift and click repeatedly. I found this to be the most optimal way of creating the drawings as it made it more manageable with my muscular problems.
I found the theme of the sci-fi Viking quite interesting as it meant I could blend together elements from pretty much all eras in my drawings and mix up many of the sub-genres such as apocalyptic and medieval. If I were to do this project again I would have liked to take more time and make sure some of the drawings had more detail in order for them to stand out. Also as you can see, I made the Viking image first and my drawing progressively improved as I felt more accustomed to shift and click method. Overall I am quite happy with what I have learned and I am looking forward to using these skills in future projects.

While I am unable to draw correctly due to my physical disabilities my tutor has allowed me to get images off of google and trace over them in Photoshop. This is more manageable for me as all I need to do is position the mouse, hold shift and click. Sci-Fi VikingThe sci-fi viking is a mix between Iron Man and one of the Companions from Skyrim. I chose this combination because I thought it would be cool to have a sort of Iron Man-like character in Skyrim. For this reason I gave him the iconic red armor that Iron Man uses, as well as electronic weaponry such as the lightning bolt launcher on his arm and an axe which has fires lightning from the blade. Prospector Saloon from Fallout New Vegas. The Prospectors Saloon was an area of New Vegas that always resonated with me due to the dust settling outside and the scene being very reminiscent of the old western movies, while the salvaged and put together sign blends post apocalyptic themes with a western atmosphere astonishingly well, while the futuristic bikes set the tone for the game's pre-war sci-fi tech. With the Saloon being one of the first things you see in the game it sets the tone of New Vegas perfectly. Sci-Fi Viking in front of Prospector Saloon. To show my ability with colouring the scene I decided to paint the Prospectors Saloon with my viking outside of it to see if he looked out of place in New Vegas. Overall I would say that this could make a pretty decent mod if the textures were done correctly and wouldn't look too out of place in the game due to its tone. With added layers The spaceship I made myself and is a render with Unreal Engine, the crates are an image I got from google and edited to fit my scene. The spaceship in particular was quite time consuming to do as I had to model it in Maya, making two separate textures. I used one texture for lighting effects and another was just a plain lambert material. Once in engine I replaced the lambert material with the engine's chrome texture. I also created a new texture for the lights to make it glow blue. Once the model looked right I created a video of it moving using the Unreal Engine Matinee function and then I changed the skybox to green using a texture I created in Photoshop. Once the video had been created I took a screenshot and edited the green screen out so I could place it in my image which you can see in the link below. https://youtu.be/0oF5qiYv7mo Star Wars space battleI chose to draw this because I am a massive Star Wars fan and with all of the ships and everything going on in the scene I thought it would be a good challenge to try and draw it. Spider-ManI decided to make a drawing of Spider-Man because he was the first superhero I know from my childhood. Because of this reason, I opted to go for his classic and iconic design. I chose this design because it is his most well known design for the character and also because it is the design most suits are based on. Venom Snake's prosthetic hand from Metal Gear Solid V.I decided to draw Venom Snake's prosthetic hand because I like the way that it was modelled in the game and because of the overall level of detail which made it quite easy to draw. Kitchen Drawing I decided to draw a still life image of a kitchen. This is because I felt it was easy for me to create a kitchen using basic mouse movements and it wouldn't be too hard and wouldn't hurt my hands too much during creation. TARDIS Sketch I decided to sketch a TARDIS due to my love of Doctor Who and I thought it would be good practice for when I start to create my Doctor Who game. Tron Grid City sketch Black Widow sketch I decided to draw Black Widow because I was yet to create a superhero drawing and thought it would be good practice. LightsaberI decided to draw a lightsaber due to my love for Star Wars and I felt that it fit the sci-fi theme very well. Axe I decided to draw an axe due to me not having any viking weaponry drawn prior to this point. I thought an axe would be a good idea due to the theme of sci-fi viking, Sonic Screwdriver I decided to make an attempt a creating a sonic screwdriver from Doctor Who. I decided on this particular one because it was the one used when I became a fan of the show. I decided this would be a good fit for the theme due to its sci-fi properties. Moodboard |
